Say Goodbye to Google PageRank Toolbar!

Important: In our previous article we describe how to setup Google Toolbar to check PageRank and Search Terms. If you don’t know about Google Toolbar or PageRank Toolbar, you should check that article.

Say Goodbye to Google PageRank Toolbar! Yes, it is time to say Goodbye PageRank Toolbar. We, the SEO experts will surely miss Google PageRank Toolbar!

We are not going to update you again. This is what Google has stated about PageRank Toolbar. So, if you are still hoping that Google will update PageRank Toolbar soon, I strongly propose you to give up this hope.

I mean, do you still think that you have a purpose to rely on PageRank Tool for your website ranking? Frankly speaking, it has been very clear from Google’s John Muller briefings that PageRank Toolbar is dead. As he stated
It has been a year we have not updated PageRank Toolbar altogether, we are not going to update again. And, we have no further plans actually

So, it has been very obvious from John Muller’s statement that Google has no further plans to do more updates regarding Page Rank Toolbar. The last PageRank Toolbar update (that was done a year ago) was solely the results of some minor changes. If you just ignore that update then for two years Google has not been offering a legitimate update. Anyway, it has been longer to consider PageRank a legitimate metric in the industry.

On the other hand, Matt Cutts (head of search spam at Google) already stated a year ago that
PageRank has no longer value for your website. Over time, the PageRank would get less usage as both the versions of Chrome and Internet Explorer do not let you to install toolbars easily.

Well, the phasing out of Toolbar is barely a surprise. So, leave relying on PageRank Toolbar and focus on other metrics that actually can bring positive results for your website. For now, you must not consider PageRank as a metric. You must think about other metrics (bounce rates, conversion rates, click through rates) rather than PageRank.

Besides, you must brainstorm why you want users on your website. Or, what you want from users to do on your website. While, considering this idea, you can consider a meaningful and actionable metric for that. For instance, you want a particular action (suppose, you want clicks) from your users then, you must consider click through rate as a metric as this metric can give you the real results that you actually want.

As Pagerank Toolbar algorithm will not be updated by Google so if your website’s pagerank is 5, it will be PR 5 forever! Similarly, our website’s PR is only 1, according to our calculation it should be around 3-5 but it will be PR 1 forever! This latest Google Pagerank toolbar announcement is very good for those website owners who had high PR website in early 2014 and stopped updating contents but somehow managed to keep it alive, they will be surely enjoying same PR throughout this year and upcoming years! What should I say? This is injustice or they are lucky?

If you still wish, Google should continue to update PageRank Toolbar then let us know the reasons via comments.
